Frequently asked questions about pretecho

Still unsure if a pretecho is for you?

Below we answer some of the questions we often hear from expectant parents.

From when can I book a pretecho?

A 2D pre-echo can be done with us starting at 8 weeks of pregnancy. This ultrasound can be performed
throughout pregnancy, up to approximately 42 weeks.

A 3D/4D pretecho is possible from 14 weeks of pregnancy. The best images arise
usually between 26 and 31 weeks, as the baby often has some fuller cheeks
by this time.

After 31 weeks, it can sometimes become more difficult to make clear 3D images. This may be due to
:

  • the amount of amniotic fluid
  • the location of the baby
  • an anterior placenta
  • a higher BMI of the mother
  • scars
  • a multiple pregnancy

Please note: We do not perform internal ultrasounds.

It is possible that during the ultrasound the baby may be lying at an unfavorable angle, making it harder to see the baby’s face or
certain details.

During the ultrasound we try different things to get a better view of the baby,
for example:

  • Move or turn for a moment
  • drink or eat something
  • puddles
  • take a short break

Should it still not succeed in creating beautiful images, we will look together at a possibility for a repeat ultrasound.

In a sex determination ultrasound, we use the ultrasound machine to look at the gender
of your baby.

This is best done from 14 weeks of pregnancy.

Should the gender not be clearly visible due to the baby’s position, for example,
we can schedule a repeat ultrasound.

The duration of a pretecho depends on the type of ultrasound you have booked.

On average, an ultrasound takes between 15 and 30 minutes. During the ultrasound, we take our time to get a good picture of your baby and you can enjoy this special
moment together.

Yes! After the ultrasound, you will receive beautiful photos of your baby to take home as a keepsake.

In addition to these photos, you will also receive all files digitally.

Yes, of course! We also do ultrasounds for multiple pregnancies.

We charge extra for this, because the ultrasound often takes a little more time. After
you do receive the number of photos double, so you have a nice
memory of both babies.

Yes, we also offer 6D transformations.

A 6D transformation is an image enhancement of a 3D ultrasound. Using special
software, the 3D ultrasound is made even more realistic and detailed.

We recommend this transformation between 26 and 32 we ken pregnancy.

The images are processed by special software. This can take up to 7 business days. Then we send the images via E-mail, along with a comparison photo.

It is also possible to have a 3D ultrasound from a previous pregnancy converted to a 6D transformation. Please send the photos to us first so we can assess if this is possible.

A pretecho is not a medical ultrasound.

The purpose of a pretecho is to enjoy seeing your baby. No medical abnormalities are looked for during this ultrasound .

Therefore, a pretecho is not covered by health insurance.

Statements made during a pretecho cannot be considered a medical assessment and
no medical advice is given.

Yes. Pretecho is performed using the same safe equipment and sound waves as medical ultrasounds.

There are no known risks to you or your baby.

To increase your chances of getting great images, you can do the following:

  • Drink some water about 30 minutes beforehand
  • Eat something sweet so the baby may be more active
  • Wear comfortable clothing
  • Try to be relaxed and enjoy the moment

Yes, you certainly can! That is precisely one of the nice things about a pretecho: family and friends can watch.
